What People are Saying About Joy's Work

Joy Young has been working with our non-profit for almost a year as a teaching artist. Joy delivers poetry workshops in a fun and inclusive manner. Whether teaching youths in a classroom at a local school or adults at a local coffee shop, Joy's teaching has been impactful in keeping poetry alive in the Chandler community. Thank you Joy for working with our organization and empowering others through your teaching.

-Ernice Davis, Founder of Connect and Heal, Chandler, AZ

“Joy Young’s presence in a classroom is transformational. Joy taught multiple workshops in my 8th grade classroom and middle school GSA last December (2016), and I found them to be both inspired and inspiring. Students who usually struggled to produce work were writing page after page, and students who were usually reticent to share were enthusiastically raising their hands. I am proud to say that the learning continued after Joy’s time in our classroom was done; during writing or revising work time throughout the rest of the year, I would overhear students referencing techniques they learned from Joy’s workshops. My students were lucky to experience these workshops, and Joy is welcome in my classroom anytime.”
